שַׁי

שַׁיm. (b. h.) offering, gift, tribute. Yalk. Is. 288 (ref. to עד כי יבא שילה Gen. 49:10) קרי ביה עד כי יובל שי לו read it, until tribute is brought to him. Pirké dR. El. ch. XXXII (play on י̇א̇שי̇ה̇ו̇) (read:) שנרצה כשי למזבח י̇א̇ה ש̇י̇ ה̇ו̇א לפגיו he was as acceptable as an offering on the altar; a worthy gift was he before Him; Yalk.
